If you’ve never done a Project 333 capsule wardrobe before – now is the time to try. I could be here all day talking about how amazing this process is but you have to try it for yourself. In short, I love it because :
- it is so easy to get ready in the morning
- it saves you money – not buying random items of clothing
- it is a creative experience
Think it’s complicated – think again! Try my 5 EASY STEPS –
No. 1 – CHECK YOUR CALENDAR
Check your calendar for all those celebrity parties and exclusive weekend trips to the country! You social butterfly, you! I’m joking of course, my life is filled with nights in front of the TV and visits to soft play, but before I had a capsule wardrobe I would spend most of my clothes money on one or two outfits for nights/days out and about 50p on the rest. I have now learnt the error of my ways – and invested heavily in jeggings.! I now know that 80% of the time my style is easy, casual and comfortable and 20% smart casual. This really helps you to plan and to get the most of your wardrobe.
No. 2 – CHECK THE WEATHER
I live in the UK. This is not the most predictable of climates. I’d say between October and the end of December the weather will vary from 16 – 5 degrees, sometimes colder. It could be wet, windy, dry, sunny (often overcast) or all of these in the same day.
No. 3 – CHECK OUT THE AUTUMN/FALL PROJECT 333 CAPSULE WARDROBE PRINTABLE
A blow-by-blow clothes guide (encapsulating Project 333 – see below) for our crazy British Weather.
No. 4 – CHECK OUT WHAT YOU ALREADY HAVE
Check what you have that may meet your needs. Anything you hate/doesn’t fit/makes you feel rubbish/broken or marked – toss in the trash! It’s time to look beautiful.
No. 5 – GO SHOPPING
Go shopping with a list and stick to it. I usually try to see what colours are coming through. I tend to go for two neutrals (black, white, navy, grey, cream etc) and one or two pop accent colours. This time it’s red but for spring I had yellow.
WHAT IS A CAPSULE WARDROBE
A capsule wardrobe is a great way to simplify your life. There are plenty of types out there but I love Project 333. In short –
- you have 33 items to choose – these must include all clothes, shoes, accessories, coats etc
- don’t include wedding ring/engagement ring, pyjamas, loungewear and gym kits
- pack away everything you don’t need
- choose 33 items
- they should last you 3 months
- the periods go from
- JULY – SEPTEMBER,
- OCTOBER – DECEMBER,
- JANUARY – MARCH,
- APRIL – JUNE
